Nimply Sidekick for Opera
Opera is built on Chromium, so Sidekick runs there as the same build Chrome gets, listed in Opera’s own add-ons store and opening in a panel beside the page.
The button becomes a link the day the Opera add-ons listing is approved. Nothing on this site links to a listing that does not exist yet.
Where it appears
It opens in a panel beside the page
Click the Sidekick icon and the extension side panel opens next to the page you are reading. This is the standard extension panel Chromium provides, so it behaves the same way in Opera as in Chrome. It is separate from Opera’s own left-hand sidebar with its messengers and built-in tools, and it never draws on the page.

Opera GX installs extensions from the same Opera add-ons store, so the one listing serves both. Opera can also install extensions from the Chrome Web Store through Opera’s own “Install Chrome Extensions” add-on, but the Opera add-ons listing is the one we maintain for Opera, so it is the one to use.

How to add it to Opera
Five steps, most of them one click. You sign in with the Nimply account you already have; there is no separate Sidekick account.
You will need
- A current version of Opera; any release built on Chromium 116 or newer, which covers every Opera version since late 2023.
- A Nimply account. Saving posts, images and articles is included on every plan; AI drafting and reply suggestions use your workspace’s AI credits.

Open the Opera add-ons listing
Use the button on this page. It becomes a link once Opera’s review is complete; until then it says “Coming soon”.

Click “Add to Opera”
Opera lists the permissions and installs the extension. None of the permissions is a broad one, so there is no warning; the extension cannot see your browsing, your cookies or any site you have not clicked on.

Pin the icon
Opera keeps extensions behind the cube-shaped Extensions button at the top right of the window. Open it and pin Nimply Sidekick so the icon stays in the toolbar.

Sign in once
Click the icon on any page. A small sign-in window opens for your existing Nimply account; sign in, choose your workspace, and the window closes itself.

Use it on the post in front of you
Click the icon, right-click a post, link or image and choose the Nimply entry, or press Alt+Shift+S. Sidekick reads that one page and shows you what it found before anything is sent.
What is different
What is different about Sidekick in Opera
The extension does the same things everywhere. These are the parts that Opera handles in its own way.
Same build as Chrome, its own store and review
The package Opera publishes is identical to the Chrome one. Opera reviews it separately, and has in the past asked extension authors for readable source code; Sidekick ships readable, unobfuscated code and we supply the source when asked.
Two sidebars, and Sidekick is not in Opera’s
Opera has its own sidebar on the left for messengers and its built-in tools. Sidekick does not appear there; it opens as an extension panel next to the page when you click its icon, the same way it does in Chrome.
Opera’s built-in AI is unrelated
Opera ships its own AI assistant. Sidekick does not use it and does not talk to it. Drafts and reply suggestions come from your Nimply workspace and are charged as Nimply AI credits, with the cost shown before each run.
Shortcuts are managed in Opera
Change the default Alt+Shift+S at opera://extensions/shortcuts if you prefer another combination.
Same rules in every browser
Assistive, not automated
The Opera build keeps every limit the other builds have. They are in the design, not in the settings. Read the full list or the extension privacy policy.
- Reads one page, once, only when you click. Never a feed, a search or a list page, and never in the background.
- Never posts, replies, likes, follows or types into a page. Drafted replies go to your clipboard for you to send.
- Never changes the page you are on, never touches your cookies or sessions, and can only contact nimply.io.
