Schedule social posts straight from Google Drive

Your client assets and final exports already live in Drive. Pick them right from Nimply’s composer, schedule them to Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, or any other channel — and Nimply never sees anything in your Drive except the files you chose.

For most teams, Google Drive is where the work actually lives: client folders, approved brand assets, raw exports from the design team, the video the freelancer just dropped in. The annoying part has always been the shuttle run — download to your laptop, re-upload to your scheduling tool, repeat for every post.

Nimply removes that step. The post composer and media library have an Import from Google Drive button built in. Click it, pick files in the familiar Drive window (multi-select works), and they land in your Nimply media library ready to schedule. Nothing to configure first, and no standing connection between Nimply and your Drive.

What is the Google Drive import?

Google Drive is Google’s cloud file storage, and for agencies and content teams it doubles as the shared source of truth for creative assets. Nimply’s Drive import is a picker, not a sync: from the media library, the /media page, or the composer, you open Google’s own file window, sign in, and select the images or videos you want.

Two things matter about how it works. First, privacy: Nimply uses Google’s drive.file scope, which means it can only read the specific files you pick — it has no ability to browse or list the rest of your Drive. Second, the transfer runs directly from your browser to Nimply’s storage; file contents never pass through our servers. Once imported, files are normal media assets: tag them, attach them to posts, and track where they’ve been used. Your originals in Drive are never touched.

How teams use Drive with Nimply

Publish from client asset folders

Agencies keep one Drive folder per client full of approved photos and cuts. When it’s time to fill the calendar, open the composer, hit Import from Google Drive, multi-select this week’s assets, and schedule them across the client’s channels — no downloads folder full of duplicates.

Go from designer handoff to scheduled post

Designers export finals into a shared Drive folder; whoever runs the calendar picks them straight into Nimply. Because imports become regular media assets, you can tag them by campaign and see which ones have already been posted.

Work from anywhere without local files

If your laptop isn’t where the assets are, it doesn’t matter. The import runs browser-to-storage, so you can schedule a week of Instagram and Pinterest posts from any machine you can sign in to Google from.

Keep permissions where they belong

You don’t hand Nimply the keys to your Drive. Each import is authorized at pick time with Google, restricted to the files chosen, and any workspace member except viewers can do it — so collaborators import what they need without anyone granting broad Drive access.

Post from Google Drive in three steps

There is nothing to set up in Nimply’s settings — the Drive option is already in the import-source button, and you authorize each pick directly with Google.

  1. 1

    Open the import button

In the post composer or the media library, click the import-source button and choose Import from Google Drive. Pick a source once and it stays your default; the dropdown switches between sources whenever you need a different one.

  2. 2

Sign in and pick your files

Google’s own file window opens. Sign in with your Google account and select the images or videos you want — multi-select is supported, so you can pull in a whole batch for the week at once.

  3. 3

    Schedule and publish

Your picks upload from your browser into Nimply’s storage and appear as media assets. Attach them to posts, write captions, and schedule to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest, or Threads.

Frequently asked questions

Can Nimply see everything in my Google Drive?

No. Nimply uses Google’s drive.file scope, which limits access to the specific files you pick in the Drive window. It cannot browse, list, or read anything else in your Drive.

Do my files pass through Nimply’s servers during import?

No. Transfers run directly from your browser to Nimply’s storage — file contents never pass through our servers on the way in.

Can I import several files from Drive at once?

Yes. The Drive window supports multi-select, so you can pick a batch of images and videos in one go and they all import together.

Does importing change or move the original file in Drive?

Never. Nimply only reads the files you pick; originals in Google Drive are never modified, moved, or deleted.

Do Drive imports count against my Nimply storage?

Yes. Imported files respect your plan’s storage and upload quotas and behave exactly like files you upload directly — you can tag them, attach them to posts, and track their usage.
